Pres. Trump Discusses Tax Reform With Dem, GOP House Members

President Trump calls on Congress to set aside differences and put the country first.

During a meeting at the White House Wednesday he met with eight Democrat and five Republican House lawmakers.

The president doubled down on his promise to cut taxes for the middle class, and lower the corporate tax rate to encourage companies to come back to the U.S.

He said he will continue to work with lawmakers from both sides of the aisle, and said they can all agree on a tax overhaul that’s pro-growth, pro-family, and pro-American.

The president also briefly discussed infrastructure investment, health care, and immigration.

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan is confident congressional Republicans will release a tax reform plan and produce legislation in the coming weeks.

Tax reform was a significant issue that President Trump and many Republican lawmakers promised to voters.

Ryan said he does not want a repeat of what happened with the failure of the GOP’s health care bill.

The House speaker says he’s confident in the GOP’s ability to get tax reform passed this year.

    Trump is the ultimate deal maker, but this is starting to suspiciously look more and more like a set up. For differing reasons of their own, both the Dimms and the RINOs are going to try to put the squeeze on Trump to drop the wall in return for their support on Taxes, or some other issues like infrastructure, health care, etc. That may have been what was discussed when POTUS wined and dined Schumer and Pelosi last night at the WH looking to make a deal. The Dimms want him to drop the wall and to support a new DACA crapfest. Now the RINOs are all pissed that he cut them out of the loop again and went directly to the Dimms looking for a deal. These old turds in Congress know their way around the toliet bowl all too well. Trump better be watching his back with these stinkers.

    He will never get the democrats or Lindsey Grahm or John McCain to go for it… but there is home that he can get 2 or 3 democrats to vote for tax cuts and maybe get them through. Sad fact is EVERYONE knows that when you cut business taxes and all taxes the economy grows and Americans do better. UpChuck and Pilosie will never vote for ANY tax cut.

    I have no confidence in any Tax Bill Ryan is associated with. He’s the guy who, along with the homely munchkin Patty Murray, produced a federal budget that preserved generous tax breaks for illegal aliens but froze the retirement pay of newly retired military heroes. Ryan = POS.

    Here’s my tax system: For each taxpayer and dependent family member (up to max of 5) you get an exemption of “the current federal hourly minimum wage” times 2,000. You report all income from all sources. After deducting the exemption you pay 15% tax of all remaining net income. (People over 65 or those with 50% or more disabilities get an additional exemption (up to a max of 7).)

    For corporations you pay 15% of total income minus operating expenses.

    For non-profits you can hold on to income in excess of expenses for 5 years. If the money is not put to appropriate use after 5 years taxes are paid at the corporate rate. (Non-profits must be true non-profit).

    Everyone should pay a 1% Personal Income Tax just for being in this country. You get lots of nice stuff by being in this country. Own it. Same for Personal Property Tax. There is opportunity in this country that doesn’t exist elsewhere. Reinvest for everyone. If you want to keep it all for yourself, move to another country.

    Charitable donations should NOT be tax deductible. Except in one case. Funding a govt program that will not be included in the Taxpayer Federal Budget. Programs will die if they do not get money from voluntary contributions.

      Tie any deduction or exemption to the federal minimum wage. If congress wants to raise the min wage, then taxes will be reduced.

      Be a little careful in how you define “loopholes”. A standard deduction might not cover tax deductions brought on by interest on a house mortgage, for instance. That “loophole” is one of the main reasons (if not #1) that people in the middle class can afford owning a home. As a proud homeowner, that is part of the American Dream I hold near and dear to my heart.

    President’s do not control taxation, just like they do not control spending .
    Those are Congressional Powers – enumerated at that.

    After first adhering to that First Truth, how about we hold true to another as well.
    We can not form the same tax code, again, which is the very base definition of reform (To form again), without having the same problems.

    Nibbling around the edges, while playing politics with untrue political games, is what has us in trouble. It is time for TRUTH.

    The Progressive Tax Code has to go, lock stock and barrel. What enables it has to go too – that institutional inequality called Arbitrary Power to Tax whatever source and do so without apportionment. That is inequality dropped right downin the middle of a document that has a very premise of protecting equality in the eyes of the law.

    So lets just admit it – and then lets just FIX it. We did it for the 18th, and we have to do the same with two other amendments as well – and for the same reasons. Mistakes must be corrected. SO lets learn from them and correct them.
