The U.S. may be gearing up for a more aggressive campaign against Taliban fighters in Afghanistan.
Commander of the U.S. Central Command — General Joseph Votel — said he plans to re-enforce the Afghan military with additional American advisers.
Reports indicate U.S. forces will work closely with their Middle Eastern counterparts near the front lines.
This comes as part of an effort to increase pressure on insurgents over the quiet winter months before ramping-up fighting toward the end of the season.
The war in Afghanistan is now heading into its 17th year.
