The Pentagon is set to strengthen its campaign against the Islamic State in the country after the Trump administration laid out its new strategy in Afghanistan.

Military officials said they’ll expand the use of drones and send roughly 1,000 advisers to Afghanistan.

The Pentagon also expects to use more helicopters, ground vehicles and artillery as part of its plan.

This comes after President Trump approved the deployment of around 4,000 additional troops to Afghanistan.

We’d be better off sending 1,000 missionaries to Afghanistan. The problem lies in the corruption and greed of the Afghan people. They need Jesus, and anything else is just a band-aid.

  • Mr. Maga

should just do what i suggested years ago. start putting a quoran in EVERY one of our vehicles, and carried on every dismounted patrol. and when they are attacked, and destroy one of these quorans, show it all over the news that the taliban is destroying quorans. it’s better than double-plate armor.

    • Robert Sigler

They kill Muslims, that book means nothing to them.

    • nfcapitalist

You do that… tell us how that works out for you.

  • Roscoe

This sounds like the beginning of a plan to end the Taliban. The plan of a pansy failed as expected and the enemy has recouped and regained strength. This is a losing tactic developed by LBJ in Vietnam and continued by DemoRATZ. I don’t say this lightly as my youngest Grandson is in the Marines and up for deployment in Feb. We need to finish what we start and Afghanistan is now into serious overtime. Go back in, in force, and kill these SOB’s once and for all even if it extends into northern Pakistan.

  • landy fincannon

Yep, the CIA’s cash cow. Also the deposits of rare minerals in the trillions is the payoff for the BANKSTERS

  • landy fincannon

Okay, when does this become a boongoggle?
Are we trying to liberate Muslims from Islam or is there an ulterior motive?
    Let’s look.
60 million tons of copper, 2.2 billion tons of iron ore, one trillion tons of rare minerals, and the CIA’s cash cow, opium.

Yes, wars are fought for wealth. Not for we the people but those who have financed war throughout history.

The expanded use of drones will create a huge force multiplier for the troops on the ground. You don’t need to have 100,000 plus troops over there. The “eye in the sky” is watching. Wouldn’t be surprised if they outfitted them with communication eavesdropping equipment and a self destruct device as well. While I do not support a large U.S. presence in Afghanistan a small presence is, unfortunately, necessary. The Bush and Obama Administration lack of focus (Bush) and lack of resolve (Obama) have kept the situation in a stalemate. The Afghan government would fold faster than socks on laundry day without NATO support. Remember, while it is not heavily reported, it is the Afghans themselves that are doing the majority of the fighting and dying against the Taliban and now ISIS. The loosening of Obama era R.O.E. and the expanded use of drone, artillery and air strikes should help both NATO and Afghan troops during the upcoming Spring fighting season. The wild card is if Pakistan will get serious about keeping the flow of fighters and weapons out of Afghanistan now that the U.S. money has stopped. They want and need that money.

Every patrol needs a sniper with a Match M1A topped with a 2 X 10 scope… full automatic is great defending the greenline in the dark, hosing trucks from the air, or mass attacks on OP but not dependable for teaching the enemy not to fire on patrols from distant hill tops.

  • Suur Kurat

After 16 years, the Americans are still reaching for the straws of “victory” which will never come in Afghanistan. How pathetic are you people?

    • hobartneck

      How pathetic are you?

    • nfcapitalist

Those rules of engagement just won’t let us exterminate the last of their miserable species… we have that environmental protection agency that requires rodents, reptiles, and insignificant insects be protected from extinction.

Prayers for Peace in the Middle East~When they all covert to Jesus Christ we’ll stop. Same deal Islam seeks to force on the entire world through Sharia. Peace be upon you or MOABS ~ your choice.

  • Norman Howe

Good move—the only way to keep ISIS in check is to stay on top of them—don’t give them any air to breath and strike when necessary—back my Pres Trump 115%—GO AFTER THESE TERRORISTS WHEREVER THEY ARE!!!

    A Never Ending War.
The VietCongs were more effective combatants than Talibans.
And yet, America could not end the war in Afghanistan.

    • nfcapitalist

Rule of Engagement… lawyers need to be on patrol with our green machine.

    • hobartneck

Afghannies can’t end it either, so what’s your point?

  • landy fincannon

    Enough already!!
Trillions and nothing to show for it except loss of life.
    What is the goal?

    • Robert Sigler

To get the Tribes to come together and be able to stop any terrorist organization from using their country as they please. We’re going to be there awhile.

      • CDG

Yeah, tribal politics and a lack of belief in a central government is a huge problem.

    • Tado

      The goal?
      Deals to recoup America’s losses.

    • CDG

At this point the goal is simply to prevent Afghanistan from becoming another failed nation that is breeding crowd for Islamic terrorists. Ideally, one day the Afghan government will be able to take care of its self but it’s unlikely any time soon. 😔

  • Shane Norkus

Why? We left them in fine shape during GW Bush’s first term, so let the Afghani’s settle their differences without our help this time around.

    • CDG

During President Bush’s first term the goal was simply to find OBL. We had not really gotten into the costly “nation building” of Afghanistan until his second term.

  • C B

Hit the Twelver’s first ! It will save a lot of time …………

Agreed. The key is Jerusalem. IMHO

  • TruthBTold

When will we be able to leave that “shithole” of a country. Does the term mission creep ring any bells?

    • All American

      Nope

    • Tado

      Afghanistan – shîthole country!

  • CASSY IS SASSY

      A Never Ending War.
      America cannot Win The War.
To win, there is but one alternative:
      WITHDRAW !!!
      The Russians did it.
But America is too proud to second it.

      • Harry

Obama withdrew while we are winning, now we have to get back to winning so we can do a smart withdrawl. Due to our stinger missle, the Russians could not take to the air and suffered huge losses.

      • oneeyedclay

        Win by quitting. Yep, THAT’S a Liberal…….

      • Mr. Maga

yeah, and when the russians withdrew, they left a power vacuum that allowed the Taliban to take control. a withdraw tactic cannot be attempted until a legitimate and peaceful power is in control, or everything that we did was for nothing. why don’t you go sit in the kids’ corner, and let the adults talk?

        • Tado

there is definitely something wrong with you: a loser!
