OAN Newsroom
UPDATED 1:59 PM PT — Wed. January 17, 2018

Murder charges have been filed in the case of a stabbing death of a Pennsylvania college student.

20-year-old Samuel Woodward has been charged with one count of felony murder.

Authorities say Woodward stabbed 19-year-old Blaze Bernstein to death, and then buried his body in a shallow grave in a neighborhood park in Lake Forrest, California back on January 2nd.

Investigators found DNA evidence linking Woodward to the murder.

The two were former high school classmates.

During questioning, Woodward said Bernstein kissed him on the lips, but authorities have yet to determine a motive for the crime.

If convicted, Woodward faces 26-years to life in prison.

This Friday, Jan. 12, 2018 booking photo provided by the Orange County, Calif., Sheriff’s Department shows Samuel Lincoln Woodward, 20. Authorities arrested Woodward, described as a friend of Blaze Bernstein, in the killing of the 19-year-old University of Pennsylvania student found buried Jan. 8, in a shallow grave at a park in Lake Forest, Calif. Undersheriff Don Barnes says DNA evidence links Woodward to the crime. (Orange County Sheriff’s Department via AP)

  5. Reading these comments, I feel I must be missing something. The suspect might have been disgusted by the kiss and the deceased should not have kissed the suspect, but stabbing Mr Berstein to death? Good Lord!

A Mexican, deported 8 times, kills a beautiful young American woman and is found not guilty of her murder. Let’s see what happens to a young American male who kills a homosexual. They’ll likely sentence him to death. Illegals and gays are a protected species in Californica.

  7. The picture of that culprit is pretty angry and focused, I bet he “feels” it was self defense from being aggressively proposed to by the swishy gay man. lol

  8. This happened not far from where I live and the local media has an agenda to label this as a hate crime committed by a conservative republican (the murderer once posted he would like to have dinner with Ronald Reagan so this is now the fault of all white conservatives…smh) however I do think they should just put a bullet in him and save taxpayer money. These kids went to a performing arts school in santa ana (typically uber liberal but politics has nothing to do with this) and when Bernstein came back home to visit from college he met up late night with his murderer, they went from parking lot to parking lot looking for a place to “hang out” and then wound up at a park in the middle of the night. The murderer was definitely gay but closeted, these guys were hooking up and Bernstein had posted on social media that the Woodward wanted to hit on him and hook up but he didn’t want Bernstein to tell anyone immediately followed by a “whoops I told everyone”. Bernstein publicly outed Woodward which probably is what made him snap and he stabbed Bernstein 20 times and buried him in a shallow grave. When questioned by police Woodward said that they were supposed to meet a 3rd person (reinforces “we were just hanging out”) and then when Bernstein disappeared Woodward went to his girlfriends house at 1am and returned to look for Bernstein at 3am though Woodward could not name his girlfriend or tell where she lived. Lastly Woodward claimed his hand scars were from a recent fight club, all of this sounds like Woodward was trying to sound as macho and straight as possible and that image was very important to him and though he was gay he lost it when Bernstein outed him to the world. This is not a hate crime but a crime of passion, fatal mistake on Bernsteins part but it is not an excuse for murder.

  9. If he’s convicted how about putting him six feet under, this country has turned into a nation of whimps who don’t wanted to execute anyone for cold blooded murder.

I’m an Alpha male and I have feelings.
Those born with sexual perversion abnormality’s need to understand
that all other mammal life kill the abnormal at birth. That pushing
their abnormality on a Straight can cause a deadly reaction. A
reaction that’s locked into the human DNA. Now ask me if I’m capable
of being nice. I was once deceived into dancing with a transvestite.
When I learned of the deceit I went into an uncontrollable rage the
likes of which my friends had never witnessed in me before. Had I
have located it, after the dance it immediately ran from the bar, the
out come for it would not have been a good one.

    • You weren’t deceived into dancing with a tranny. You were so desperate to get your leg over some drunken woman – any woman – that you deceived yourself into dancing with HIM.

    • Living in the Times | January 18, 2018 at 6:55 am |

I am trying really hard not to laugh, I know it is not funny, but the mental pic I am getting of that whole scenario is hilarious…sorry!

    • You danced with the transvestite, and you didn’t catch anything.
You come across as someone who needs severe counseling in order to control your unacceptable impulses.

Sounds like you’ve got some latent honesexual tendencies that you are ashamed of. That level of “rage” is inappropriate. Also question how it was you could not tell a tranny from the real thing? Seek help.

No excuses for cold blooded “Murder” and burying the body in a grave.
I don’t care what the other boy did!
    And was the DNA evidence?
🙏🏻Prayers for the family of Blaze Bernstein.

    • Think 2 Moves Ahead | January 17, 2018 at 7:46 pm |

Agree. They are both adults, and the only point that matters is one person murdered another. My childhood consisted of two parents, Catholic school, scouts, and a good sense of right and wrong. The young in the next generation are bombarded with confusion we never had to deal with. All that matters in one committed murder and needs to be taken out with the trash.

    • Living in the Times | January 18, 2018 at 7:00 am |

The parents are victims as well. Both sets of parents have lost their sons.

      • All American | January 19, 2018 at 5:40 am |

Yes, thank you for helping me to keep my focus on both families who have lost their sons.
I will also say a 🙏🏻prayer for the Woodward family.

        • Living in the Times | January 19, 2018 at 6:00 am |

I m sure both families are in great need of everyone’s prayers. A difficult time for both I am sure.

          • All American | January 19, 2018 at 6:12 am |

Yes, of course you are right. Both families will suffer the innocent as well as the guilty…very sad.

More fruits and nuts brought to you by way of California…..This is what a liberal lifestyle brings to your communities.

    • LeaderOfTheBanned | January 17, 2018 at 6:21 pm |

It happened in one of the most conservative parts of conservative Orange County.

      • “One of the most conservative parts of O.C” … As though THAT plays a part in it.

        • LeaderOfTheBanned | January 18, 2018 at 12:28 pm |

Just responding to the above post about “liberal lifestyle”. This crap is going on everywhere.

      • Santa Ana? Isn’t that part of the area which elected Loretta “Sanchez” to the House repeatedly (though at least her first election was fraught with fraud)? If so, it would not be all that “conservative.”

        • LeaderOfTheBanned | January 18, 2018 at 12:16 pm |

Where does it say Santa Ana? It happened in Foothill Ranch – south Orange County – very affluent and very conservative.

  14. More white on white crime

  15. More like, “didn’t kiss him on the lips…”

  16. semper liber | January 17, 2018 at 2:10 pm |

Maybe the victim should have driven 20 miles to Laguna Beach. There’s lots of sword swallowers there.

  17. Sounds to me more like a lovers spat! I mean they knew each other since high school and all.

  18. Sorry for the parents loss, I’m sure they are hurting as anyone should however they should look at their son’s actions before calling this a hate crime. Some guy tries to kiss me, he will likely not be in any condition to walk away.

    • So you don’t know how to say, “You have very good taste in men, but no thanks”?

    • Why would some man randomly try to kiss you? Are you lying awake at night having these night tremors?

      • Nope, are you happy now?

        • Fantasy and sci-fi always makes me happy, but yours has an unnecessary evil edge. Trannies are not well. That’s hardly a prompt for their murder. Jeez.

          • What’s with your obsession with this? Are you Gay?
I’m happy about your fantasy and si-fy dreams, that explains a lot.

          • No, but thank you for asking.

          • Your replies leads one to think you might be Gay, if your not then according to you I’m a bad person, and your just perfect, do I have this correct? Nobody deserves to be murdered! there are those the world would be better off without, but when you run around and attempt to kiss another man then he takes his life into his own hands, (Pardon the pun). If this man was chasing women and making the same unwanted advances and was shot by the woman, she would be hailed as a hero. Any murder is a hate crime, not just Hetero-Phobes.

          • I think you’re over-egging the pudding, and sound rather like those mad women on the march yesterday. We don’t murder anyone for making advances (to a reasonable degree). Do men really run around and try to kiss you? I believe that as much as I believe Helen Mirren’s claim that men used to expose themselves to her practically every day in public places like the subway. (Perhaps they thought she was a toilet – God knows she worked her way through the heterosexual ranks of the Royal Shakespeare Company swiftly and willingly.)

And I disagree with you that people don’t deserve to be murdered. Quite a number do deserve it. But not for the ‘crimes’ that you cite.

          • I did say that there are those that the world would be better off without.
Why don’t they just charge them with a crime, (murder), not a hate crime?

          • Well on that at least we’re agreed.

          • Dilly dilly

      • They knew each other at least since high school, so it was apparently not random.

      • They knew each other at least since high school, so it was apparently not random.

    • We only have the murderers side of the story.

  19. greg12345678910 | January 17, 2018 at 11:14 am |

Ofcourse this happened in California. So the biggest crime is the “hate crime” against gays and not murder of a person.

  20. These guys were friends in high school and Woodward didn’t know Bernstein was gay? Not, possible unless Woodward is stupid, it’s more probable that this was a spat between two gay guys and one being a closet gay. Regardless, this is no “hate” crime because Woodward was suddenly kissed by Bernstein. The multiple stabs was a crime of passion. Her comments about the fear that LGBTQ community lives in makes no sense. She reaching out for a reason her son was murdered.

  21. The other Donald | January 17, 2018 at 11:11 am |

It could be considered self defense if it is found that the dead dude had aids , man slaughter at the most if that’s the case

  22. Wilbor Gavin | January 17, 2018 at 10:48 am |

These HomoFascist who think everyone should think like them, should rethink their idiotic position.

  23. A guy walks up to a girl and kisses her on the street, she responds by punching him in the balls = strong female
A gay guy walks up to a guy on the street and kisses him, he responds by punching him in the balls = hate crime

Or do I not understand the definition of sexual assault as the snowflakes apply it today?

    • First lets look at the term “assault” – An assault is carried out by a threat of bodily harm coupled with an apparent, present ability to cause the harm.
Clearly the “battery” (or touching) part is more credible here. lol

      • Varangian Guard | January 17, 2018 at 2:57 pm |

Remember that the “me too” will cross over into the 14 New classifications of gender identity. From now on you will have to assess perhaps even consult a pew poll to correctly identify which class you are dealing with and then consult the PC gender identity manual to select the appropriate response as clarified by the new world order of gender confusion.

Face it, if you are male, white, and heterosexual you are screwed. And not in the good way. Just avoid conflict and when in doubt offer money.

    • Living in the Times | January 18, 2018 at 4:51 am |

I agree with you. This whole scenario is sad. First, the deceased’s lifestyle choice, second his death. Consider that the victim was not murdered but badly beaten. as you stated in your post who would have been the victim? Why should “special” groups get a pass on unwanted touching just because society has deemed them as a group with a genetic abnormality or because they fall under the all inclusive acceptance policy???? Why should the straight guy get touched by someone who repulses him? There are several victims here. Unfortunately, the one guy, sadly, took his anger too far. But that is where this alternative lifestyle, if you will, usually leads in such cases. Now both families have lost their young son’s because one wanted to be immoral!

    • Living in the Times | January 18, 2018 at 5:07 am |

I think you have pretty well summed up their mentality.

    • HarryObrian | January 18, 2018 at 5:15 am |

You’re right and metoo should be understood for it’s other meaning when trying to make sense of hypocritical parroting snowflakes.

    • But that’s just it. Women don’t do anything… as the recent revelations about those white-collar hypocrites in Hollywood have proved. If everyone killed someone for an unsolicited approach, we’d halve the population of the world tomorrow.

  24. landy fincannon | January 17, 2018 at 10:42 am |

Hate crime? All forms of malum in se crimes display some for of hatred.
My condolences to the family. No parent should have to bury their child.

  25. So Bernstein can now be considered a sexual predator? Let’s not let him off the hook simply because the victim responded. I have had too many feminists try to blast me over a stance I’ve taken in “sexual assault incidents”, so let’s not let them back track on this one then. #HimToo

  26. Francine Lundberg | January 17, 2018 at 10:36 am |

THis will probably not be the only case as homosexuals are being very PUSHY about FORCING the heterosexuals to accept their lifestyle. Most homosexuals do not think prancing around in a speedo with their urine draining appendage flopping up and down while placing wet kisses upon each other while they gyrate in front of children should be considered offensive!

    • landy fincannon | January 17, 2018 at 10:38 am |

      A+ for the careful wording

    • Lets not forget the sexual assault by Bernstein. If I walked up to some female and kissed her without consent, I would get fitted for a #MeToo and labeled a sexual predator. But I guess because he was gay, it then makes it okay? I wonder how they will respond to that.

      • There has been an onslaught of attacks against strong Caucasian straight males since the Obama reign of terror began.

        • Watch any current commercials on tv lately. The white males are often portrayed as nit wits. Also note the number of mixed marriages on commercials and notice the number of gays, both male and females. It’s the changing times we live in and Maddison Avenue is going to ram it down our throats. No pun intended.

However, I notice that any black women used in commercials are always very light skinned and almost pass for white.

I guess there’s some racial inequality and prejudice going on there that many don’t seem to notice. Dark skinned black women aren’t welcomed to make commercials.

          • It’s NOT the changing times we live in. The hollywood made you think you should change….and hope you agree that your daughters or sons should change their Sex. Hollywood through their tireless “education” in movie and theaters ..had already made more young people confused with themselves. It’s time to open your eyes and read more real news that major Fake News media not reporting…

          • HarryObrian | January 18, 2018 at 5:23 am |

Every reason for never watching network tv is commercials. Pollution comes in many forms.

          • Commercials was the main reason I quit T.V. over two years ago.

There has been an onslaught of attacks against Caucasian males since the Obama reign of terror began. FIFY

      • I think it was Woodward hitting on Bernstein and killed because he was rejected.

    • HarryObrian | January 18, 2018 at 5:21 am |

Strange how so many know and understand what you’re saying yet the gender confused keep pushing more and more when they are allegedly only 2% of population. Might be time for a ‘straight’ revolution or at least a “I’m still here and not going anywhere” campaign.

  27. Or he may have just been a confused young man.

  28. disqus_D87XRi0Gy7 | January 17, 2018 at 10:33 am |

People are not reading the right books now a days………..
    Leviticus 18:22, Romans 1:26-27, First Corinthians 6:9, Genesis 2:24, 1 Corinthians 7:2-16, Ephesians 5:23-33

    • Captain Mann | January 17, 2018 at 4:26 pm |

Those may very well be the right books, but most cretans these days read the left books.

  29. RIP the gay kid from PA…
Welcome to the real world where you should not have been aggressive with your gayness & approach the wrong person.
Lesson to gays, hitting on those well known in your gay circle is best.

  31. Hugh D. Bracy | January 17, 2018 at 10:25 am |

Odds are that sammi REALLY wanted to stab blaze with his little kosher weenie but was too ashamed to.

  32. We don’t know enough about the relationship between Bernstein and Woodward to really know that, do we?

  33. He shouldn’t have kissed him.

    • Agreed, but why is this a story here? Just because it involves immoral homosexual behavior? Is this OANN or MTV?

    • Living in the Times | January 18, 2018 at 4:52 am |

Yes, agreed. The deceased knew this guy was straight/normal so why would he have even attempted that???
