President Trump is returning to Washington D.C. on Monday and is expected to have a busy week ahead.
On Sunday, the President had little to say about the crisis after North Korean leader Kim Jong Un warned he has plans to wipe out the U.S.
During a New Year’s address on the North Korean State T.V., Kim Jong Un claimed North Korea has a nuclear deterrent against a possible U.S. military invasion.
The North Korean leader reiterated his country has developed a capability to hit the U.S. mainland with its missiles.
He added military tensions on the Korean Peninsula must be defused, and called for better relations with South Korea.
He said Pyongyang might send its national team to the Winter Olympics which is set to take place in South Korea in February.
“The Winter Games to be held in South Korea will be a good occasion for the country. We sincerely hope that the Winter Olympics will be a success,” said Kim Jong Un. “We are prepared to take various steps, including the dispatch of the delegation. Officials from the two Korea’s may urgently meet to discuss the possibility.”
Kim Jong Un went on to promise he’s open to a dialogue with South Korea, and will only use nuclear weapons if threatened.
