American rapper and songwriter Kanye West recently promoted his support for President Trump while on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

On Thursday, West said that after a year and a half he has finally built confidence, and will not allow liberals or anyone else bully him amid his support for the president.

In his interview with Kimmel, he explained his decision to wear the ‘Make America Great Again’ hat was to stand up against the fear of backlash.

“Just as a musician, African-American, guy out in Hollywood, all these different things, you know, everyone around me tried to pick my candidate for me and then told me every time I said I liked Trump that I couldn’t say it out loud or my career would be over,” he explained.

Although West has received backlash on his support for the president, he said his main point is for others to focus on love rather than hate.
