Less than a week after swiftly approving a stop-gap spending bill, Republicans introduce new legislation to keep the government up and running through January 19th.
The House Appropriations Committee released the latest bill Wednesday, which will allow Congress more time to negotiate a longer-term spending bill.
The legislation will fully fund the Defense Department and continue the Children’s Health Insurance Program.
While Democrat lawmakers have fought for CHIP, they are expected not to approve the deal because it does not provide a DACA solution.
If lawmakers do not agree to a funding bill by December 23, the government will partially shutdown.
