Less than a week after swiftly approving a stop-gap spending bill, Republicans introduce new legislation to keep the government up and running through January 19th.

The House Appropriations Committee released the latest bill Wednesday, which will allow Congress more time to negotiate a longer-term spending bill.

The legislation will fully fund the Defense Department and continue the Children’s Health Insurance Program.

While Democrat lawmakers have fought for CHIP, they are expected not to approve the deal because it does not provide a DACA solution.

If lawmakers do not agree to a funding bill by December 23, the government will partially shutdown.

You oppose abortion but have no problem with murdering congress people? Hypocrite to the max

  • intimeforthedime

Why aren’t we stomping private piles guts out?

oh wait, it is because we really have no control over this train wreck of a country we live in and “think” we have control over.

  • brad m

Let the partial government shutdown happen. We had a 3 week shutdown a few years ago and Armageddon didn’t happen. Make a balanced budget. Stop borrowing so much money. If we don’t have the money, then prioritize spending.. welfare is not a power given to the federal government so end funding. It’s the biggest portion of the spending, so start there.

    • weasel1886

It is nowhere near the biggest part. A balanced budget right now would kill the economy

      • brad m

What is the biggest part of spending?

        • weasel1886

          SSI, medicare, defense

          • brad m

If you put all the entitlement/welfare prorgans together like SS disability, HUD, medicare for disabled, CHIP, ACA subsidies, etc they amount to much more than defense

          • weasel1886

If we put everything together defense is smaller. So what do you want to cut.?

          • brad m

Start with entitlement/welfare spending. Didn’t work for Greece.

  • Musket25

It may not but don’t think Ryan doesn’t want it.

  • Winabego

What they want paid for NOT working WTF is wrong with these people…….

Shutting down the federal government over political choices should be illegal – this is an embarrassment for running our nation. Factions in the country have vastly divergent political and economic philosophies, which is what drives this every year. Funding government operations is not something that should be toyed with so flippantly ever budget season. Truly discretionary spending, such as entitlements, grants, pork projects, and foreign aid should be on the table for deliberation – not core government mandates like defense, intel & enforcement. The effects of these shut downs devastate a lot of people. To cut spending means cutting entitlements like Soc Security, Medicare, ACA subsidies and Medicaid reimbursements – and NOBODY wants to touch those, including many who constantly say cut spending and shut it down.

    • brad m

If we only funded core government then the budget balancing could done. Yes entitlement spending needs to go. We don’t have the money for it.

  • eladtoor

Thank ‘god’! This House finally, finally did something right!
They only funded this government through 19 January.
This means that as of 20 January, we won’t have to deal with this effed-up D.C. mess.

  • hjole

stop with this crap and get a budget, PERIOD!

  • JL Ziegler

No!!! Why should they get more vacation time to enjoy tax payer monies.

  • Musket25

Starting December 20th watch these people try to give amnesty to all the illegals, then run home for safety. Keep your eyes open voters.

  • Slowpoke

If the gov’t were to shut down before Christmas, the Jackals’ party would finally get the blame they deserve. That won’t happen – 2018 is the year must convince us that uncontrolled spending is the way to go!

  • Roscoe

Oh goody goody, the DemoRATZ are going to shut down the government. Their parasite nation voter base should just love their EBT cards staying empty. Does this stop government paychecks? Can you see 4 pieces of stupid in that picture? LOL! If military paychecks stop perhaps they will stage a coup and shoot these worthless morons that we call congress.

  • 🐯 TigerBear 🐻

NO AMNESTY, so….SHUT ER DOWN Demons!

  • MJ

Cut their salaries in half. Immediately eliminate ALL perks, benefits, and every single retirement program these self serving politicians have luxuriously bathed themselves with! The DC cronies behave like predators, not “public servants”! Most of these clods can shut the lights off and go home for good! Think of the billions America will save.

  • davej

I also see that the Dems want the money to last up to the year’s anniversary of OUR President. Why? , so they can point the finger at him for mismanagement. No extension at all, starve the bastards.

    • JL Ziegler

Exactly right. Why can we all subderstand this logic?

  • Jimbo

The tax and spend democrats want to shut the government down in hopes of blaming the republicans. Can anyone think of something positive the democrats have done in 2017? Lying and cheating are not positive attributes.

  • anotherday

I think they wait till everything is an emergency so they can add their pork and know it will have to gt approved.

  • iwontell

HELL, shut it down, save the taxpayers money, nothing important will be missed and the MORONS can’t do more damage IF they aren’t there.

    • JL Ziegler

They still work for the gov making 6 figures/year.

      • I. Forgot 3

Until an executive order cutting them off. LOL!! That would make my day!

  • joyfulgiver

STOP SPENDING OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY! Done.

    • HarryObrian

You don’t understand, it’s not your money, you didn’t build that, you are allowed to have the money they allow you to because if everyone were rich or poor then they wouldn’t be needed.

  • landy fincannon

    The uniparty always delivers.

  • Varangian Guard

    CHUCK YOU Schumer

    • joyfulgiver

      VOTE THEM OUT!

  • callmegee

Go ahead Dems. Shut down the US government over your priority for illegal aliens. Can’t wait for the 2018 fallout for you fools.

    • escaped to Alaska

I believe the Republicans are in control of the House, Senate and POTUS. So sure blame the Democrats. This will fall fully on the Republicans. If they can reduce revenue, increase military spending, corporate give-aways, special loopholes for various corporations, they surely can fix the budget and spending problems. Cutting Social Security, Medicare all of which has been paid for by the recipients, and would have plenty of money if they would quit borrowing from it to pay off their donors. Glad they are not in charge of my household budget, I would have to declare bankruptcy on a regular basis like our POTUS. The Republican Party making America Great Again by returning us to the days of the robber barons!

      • landy fincannon

        This is a bipartisan issue.

      • JL Ziegler

More disabled and/or old homeless bums begging for money? Not such a great idea.

  • Phi Lemon

Borrowing $1.4 Billion per day is literally modern day slavery — the bonded debt servitude of the next generation.

  • Lawmadsen

The ruling class in this country debate on how to steal more taxpayer money while making it look like they are actually doing anything to help us. Dr. Mark Skidmore from Michigan University recently released a report that claims $21 trillion is missing and unaccounted for since 1998… I think our current national debt is $20 trillion so theoretically if the only thing different about our society was that we had honest competent politicians we should have a trillion dollar surplus. The current government if for “We the people” in name only and the ruling caste will not surrender their power driven by the goodness of their hearts, this was evident in Alabama where the GOP would rather lose than let a non-establishment candidate into their DC cabal.

  • sillystring

How many years to they need to “negotiate” a budget? Not to mention, DACA has no place in a “funding” bill. Vote them all out.

    • landwell

And that’s the talking point for Republicans – DACA has no place in a “funding” bill.

  • davej

NO! DAMMIT, NO! NO MORE STOPGAPS, NO MORE UNBALANCED BUDGET, NO MORE PAY TO OUR SO CALLED REPS, UNTIL THEY GET A GRIP ON SPENDING!!!

    • joyfulgiver

      AMEN!

    • Slowpoke

Make a budget, execute the budget, and then control the money. Audit the Fed! Examine the bank accounts and break out the handcuffs. Harry Truman was right when he said that you only get rich in government service if you’re a crook!

  • Edman

Shut the gov’t down, turn off the utilities to congress, & save some money.

    • HarryObrian

They can’t shut it down as it would openly expose the absurd waste that they are.

      • Edman

LOL! That’s so true & an accurate statement.

        • JL Ziegler

That is what they have been doing for years. Doesn’t work, just insanity.

    • JL Ziegler

And the gov gets an extra week of paid vacation?

  • Clinicaleducator1

This is called pay to play. WE KNOW what they are doing. You ALL suck!!!
