Detroit voters have some serious choices to make when they head to the polls for a new mayor, especially since half the candidates are convicted felons.
Four of the eight candidates reportedly have extensive wrap sheets.
First-time contender Donna Marie Pitts has multiple felony convictions, including assault with the intent to murder.
Fellow candidate Danetta Simpson also has a felony conviction of assault with intent to murder.
Another candidate Articia Bomer was charged in 2008 for carrying a concealed weapon, while candidate Curtis Greene was charged with a felony at the age of 19.
Detroit’s election on August 8th will be the first election since the city exited bankruptcy in 2014.
