GOP lawmakers say their investigation found new irregularities in the FBI’s probe into Hillary Clinton’s emails.
Congressional investigators say the FBI had found that a “sheer volume” of classified information was received and sent from the non-secure private server.
The bureau did have proof of Clinton’s criminal wrongdoing, but went on to draft an exoneration statement before the email probe was complete.
This comes after lawmakers reviewed highly redacted FBI documents related to the Clinton email probe.
Congressmen say the FBI cleared Clinton of a possible indictment due to political reasons.
“Why were some of the very people involved in clearing Hillary Clinton then drafted on to the Mueller probe to go and persecute the President?” questioned Florida Representative Matt Gaetz. “It seems very suspect that people who were already engaging in the various activities to clear Hillary Clinton — even though there was evidence of the crime, end up being the very same people that Bob Mueller goes and curates to join his team.”
Lawmakers say they will learn more in the coming months when the DOJ’s inspector general is set to release a report on the FBI’s handling of the Clinton emails case.
