California Republican John Cox is receiving a huge endorsement in his bid for governor.

Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice endorsed Cox Thursday, saying he has the vision to address the state’s most difficult problems.

Rice also said Cox’s commitment to education, affordable housing and better paying jobs will improve California’s future.

Rice served under the George W. Bush administration and is now a political science professor at Stanford University.

Her endorsement comes after a recent poll showed Cox gaining ground on his Democrat opponent Gavin Newsom.
