Egypt is reportedly severing ties with North Korea, cutting down Pyongyang’s short list of allies.

During a visit to Seoul Monday, Egypt’s Defense Minister Sedki Sobhi told South Korea’s Song Young-Moo they have cut all ties with Pyongyang, and will cooperate with South Korea if Kim Jong-Un threatens peace.

This announcement follows the U.S.’s decision to suspend nearly $300 million in aid for Egypt.

While the U.S. claimed it withheld funds for human rights concerns, many speculate it was a strategy to indirectly pressure North Korea to terminate its nuclear program.

  • Egypt is nobody’s ally. They are just looking out for Egypt. No matter the ideology, they’ll climb into bed with any country that has something to offer them.

    Nailed it.

You know business is getting bad for Lil’ Kim when even the Mooslim Bro’hood won’t do biz with him.

Egypt continues to surprise me. If they keep it up, they will find peace and prosperity.

A little history… Obama promoted the Islamist “Arab Spring” takeover of Egypt, When the people revolted and returned to democracy, Obama withdrew our aid and support and the Russians stepped up to fill the vacuum. Now that Pres. Trump is in charge, Egypt has come back to us. WINNING! It never gets old.

Unfortunately, religious freedom has not rebounded there to the levels it was under Mubarek. Coptic churches are still being burned, Christians persecuted and/or subjected to intolerable conditions. It is a Muslim nation no doubt but the next time you hear that Islam is a peaceful religion and ISIS is just an aberation, ask about Egypt or maybe Saudi Arabia or (I could go on), and how many Christian churches have been built there in the last 10 years.

Yep, and we’re headed toward Muslim rule in our nation, too, if we don’t watch out.

Nice to see Egypt is on-board.

“REPORTEDLY” is the key word in this story.

    “…if Kim Jong-Un threatens peace”
    Huh??
    Color me confused…

    • sillystring

At a guess, the reporter meant “…threatens peace”. Which I guess means Egypt will be “cooperating” with S. Korea

    • Johnny G.

…”threatens peace”. He forgot the word “the”. Otherwise, the US told Egypt to either pony up or we take our money back.

    • Heremeroor

I’m sure it wouldn’t be as confusing if the reporter called him “Pikachu”
