Nielsen is an ‘open borders’ kind of gal and thinks illegal border jumpers should not be punished at all but showered with forgiveness and integrated into the low wage work force as quickly as possible. She sees no reason to punish ‘dreamers’ for swarming across an unnecessary, troublesome border to steal the ‘dreams’ of legal American citizens. If you like Angela Merkel, you will love Ms Nielsen.

  • DavidH

How can you protect America with such open border policies? Insane.

  • Jack Steffen

I am not impressed with a Rubio endorsement. OK so she was a good desk jockey working with Gen. Kelly. A job like this I’d actually rather see someone older and with more actual experience in security and/or law enforcement. An ex-sheriff, ex-police chief, or retired Marine. Unless this position is really just a titular fluff job with the real power lying elsewhere – that’s always a possibility. If that’s the case, fine, as long as she can’t harm anything.

  • zeitgeist

I am of the opinion that the Rubio endorsement should be enough to disqualify her nomination. (only slightly sarcastic). As an early supporter of President Trump I keep getting emails about “Do you think the President is doing a good Job” and to be candid I don’t know how to answer. I want to say yes but…..I am reminded of saying that was popular in my days and that is: “a man is only as good as his word.” Campaign promises need to be kept, otherwise the uniparty rules. If it all comes tumbling down it will be known to history as a noble experiment in government that the constitutional republic with democratically elected leadership just didn’t work. A prediction promulgated by I believe Hamilton. We (all of us here) were very lucky to have been born in this era, I just wish that are children and grandchildren can say the same.

  • Sonny Shaw

I’m not clear on her stand on DACA and Amnesty; from what I have read she is for DACA and giving Amnesty to millions of Illegal Aliens, as long as entering the US illegally is the only crime they committed. On that bases I wouldn’t vote for her.

    • HarryObrian

Especially seeing as most ILLEGAL ALIENS that commit crimes aren’t recorded correctly to begin with and the system is set up to provide that anonymity.

      • Sonny Shaw

The will of the people means nothing anymore to the political class. They have to go sooner than later.

  • J. Waltam

We don’t need another academic dimbo in government. Get a good USMC general in there.

    • Jack Steffen

Either that or a person with an actual law-enforcement background like an ex-sheriff, ex-police cheif, etc.

    • HarryObrian

You’re right, what with all the reports of the massive failure of the over-bloated TSA the DHS needs a backbone not an another ivory tower purse.

  • Jack

Trump should pull her name from consideration and move Sessions to DHS, Then Move COS John Kelly to be AG. They both have already been confirmed by congress.

Sessions is ineffective since he recused himself on any ongoing investigations dealing with Russia.

  • yportbill

    Replace all the RHINO’s

  • yportbill

    Welcome all illegals!!!!!!!!!!

  • HERE to ETERNITY

    Reject her….
    Rubio is a poison

  • USA#1

She doesn’t look very convincing. Particularly being a good friend of Ivanka

  • Deplorable B Church

This woman is an open borders-loving swamp creature, who has said that DACA people “deserve” amnesty and that we don’t need a wall on the southern border. She is a disastrous, ridiculous choice, and the exact opposite of what Trump promised in his campaign. I want to believe in Trump, but this is a monumentally stupid nomination and will lead to even more people leaving the Trump train.

  • Alan Lindquist

I the pres. new what she would do before he appointed her .

  • Roy Beane

Not sure she is the best choice for this job, because her statements in the committee hearing indicate she supports amnesty for the Dreamers, which is in stark disagreement with the President’s views on this. Trump better be careful or she will sandbag him like Sessions did; he really doesn’t need another cabinet secretary that opposes his views inside the WH.

    • Aldo

She better get her ass on the Trump train

      • Roy Beane

And Congress had better do so too, or there will be hell to pay when these old GOP buzzards come up for reelection.

        • Jack Steffen

Time is running out for them. Congress hasn’t submitted anything substantial for Trump to sign. I believe this is by design. Dems & RINOs don’t want him getting credit for anything positive. I think it’s time to clean house here. Come quickly 2018, so we can vote these people out!!

          • HarryObrian

Nice words but when it comes down to it people are singularly selfish and vote for the ol dog who gives them what they want. There is no other reason they have lasted this long.

          • Jack Steffen

There are many other reasons, but old fashioned pork barrel politics for your own district does fit in there. Apathy, complacency, not paying attention to whats really going on, these people spinning lies about who they are and a gullible public lapping it up, out of state PAC “dark money”, these all play a part too.

      • PK

Oh, she’ll get confirmed quickly if the libs think she’s on their team!

      • HarryObrian

Maybe her ass is already on the Trump train and that is that he supports amnesty for the ILLEGAL ALIENS. I don’t think that would be a surprise.

    • brandehhh

Trump does support the DACA to a point though…

      • The Trump Tsunami to Success

        proof……

        • TexasDeplorable1134

“Compromise is what President Donald Trump wants with regards to his
immigration policy. The president said that he is willing to support
DACA if Congress funds a border wall as well as his other proposals for
immigration reform. His new plan involved using the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals
or DACA as a bargaining chip to bring his plans for immigration reform
          into fruition.” Christian Post

          • Jack Steffen

If Trump could bring that off, I’d be OK with it, as long as a real wall is built and no more illegal migration of any sort is allowed. I am old enough to remember Ronald Reagan – I voted for him twice. In many respects he was one of our better Presidents, but he did give millions of illegals amnesty in 1986. This was with the understanding that the border would be secured and illegal migration shut down. The amnesty happened, but not the rest of it. I don’t want to see a replay of that.

          • TexasDeplorable1134

Ditto. I also voted for him twice. That is why I became dissatisfied with every candidate after that. But unfortunately he got caught up in the Iran/Contra which I am sure hurt his agenda as well as a majority Democrat House. That’s why I will be very upset if nothing get done before 2018 elections as the Republicans have majority EVERYTHING now.

          • Jack Steffen

I think Reagan also got some incredibly bad advice from his “advisors”. A lot of them were globalists and holdovers from the Ford admin. For example I cannot ever see Trump OK’ing a plan to house 100’s of UNARMED US Marines in a barracks in Beruit Lebanon just to be stitting ducks to be killed. Our current admin has the potential to be what the Reagan admin should have been, but wasn’t.

      • Jack Steffen

He doesn’t really support it. He’s trying to figure out a way to do away with it without coming off as being a no-heart ogre. The thing is, the media has falsely painted these people as innocent young hopefuls, one of whom might give us the cure for cancer, etc. (hence the media nickname “Dreamers”) but the truth is different. Most of these people are not young kids, in fact some are felons, and only a very tiny percentage are college students. The media makes it appear otherwise, and for a specific agenda. This is what President Trump has to deal with.

        • brandehhh

I wasn’t going by what the media says but what Trump says.

          • HarryObrian

Yes, exactly, but even then I hope that’s just his liberal daughter speaking thru him, but I’m not convinced he knows he has no way out of DACA and like most of his other promises will reneg on this too.

          • brandehhh

I do believe they balance each other out. He listens to her and she listens to him. I also don’t think anything said by her has not been approved by him in some way.
It was explained to me how he made all of these promises on the trail, which got him nominated and elected, with limited knowledge to classified information. Now that he is in, he has all of that information available to him. Somehow, some way they still got to him, maybe how interwoven in their bullcrap is into our country that some issues that he promised Americans have taken a back burner and swept under the rug. As in some of the things cannot be easily fixed or even fixed at all. I’m still waiting on term limits and Congress salary caps/deductions. If those kids that were brought over through DACA want to become citizens, they should apply for citizenship.

    • Advent2016

No second term for Trump if he doesn’t build the wall.

      • ReaganKnewBest

They’re already making prototypes so it seems like it’s going well. Also to be fair It’s up to are lost congress to get the wall going not him as he has limitations in his power.
