Congressional Democrats are reportedly looking to block incoming debt ceiling legislation if “Dreamers” are *not granted amnesty.
The move comes as party leaders Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi continue to refuse any funding for a border wall in exchange for Dreamer protections.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders says the administration will soon begin high-level meetings on whether to tie amnesty for the 800,000 Dreamers to the legislation this week.
Meanwhile, if lawmakers fail to raise the U.S. debt ceiling by December it could create major economic instability, and risk a default on government debt.
