A California man is arrested for allegedly plotting to carry out a terror attack in San Francisco on Christmas day.
Everitt Aaron Jameson faces one count of attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization, after he reportedly told an undercover FBI agent he planned to attack the city’s Pier 39.
He reportedly told the agent he wanted to mimic terror attacks similar to San Bernardino and New York City.
Authorities say the 26-year-old was radicalized by Jihadist beliefs, and posted and liked pro-ISIS material on social media.
Jameson’s father was shocked following the arrest.
“it’s just really unbelievable. it’s just hard to fathom right now. i don’t really know what to say, how to feel, really,” says, Gordon Jameson “It’s just shocking. That’s my son. Never saw it coming, not at once, you know what i mean?”
Jameson also allegedly said he did not need an escape plan in place because he was “ready to die.”
New details also suggest he was discharged from the marine corps, and had experience as a sharpshooter.
Authorities found several and weapons during a search warrant on his home.
Since Jameson’s arrest, San Francisco’s FBI branch said there’s no current threat to the city.
