Brett Kavanaugh is on Capitol Hill rallying support from senators, just hours after being nominated as the next Supreme Court justice.

Accompanied by Vice President Mike Pence, Kavanaugh met with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell early Tuesday.

Kavanaugh is hoping to gain a simple majority among Republicans in order to be confirmed.

Vice President Pence said he’s confident that lawmakers will see Kavanaugh as the qualified nominee the president says he is as they reach out to both sides of the aisle in the Senate.

McConnell has said he hopes to hold a confirmation hearing for Kavanaugh in September or October ahead of the midterms.

This comes after President Trump nominated Kavanaugh at the White House Monday evening.
