U.S. Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley is speaking out about the administration’s stance on several international incidents making headlines in the new year.
During a news conference at the United Nations on Tuesday, Ambassador Haley applauded the Iranian uprising. She called on Iran’s supreme leader to feel the shame he has brought on his people, saying, “If the Iranian dictatorship’s history is any guide, we can expect more outrageous abuses in the days to come. The UN must speak out. In the days ahead, we will be calling for an emergency session both here in New York, and at the Human Rights Council in Geneva. We must not be silent. The people of Iran are crying out for freedom. All freedom loving people must stand with their cause.”
In addition to her comments on Iran, Haley doubled down on President Donald Trump’s decision to withhold more than $250 million in aid from Pakistan until its government does more to fight jihadists in the region. She also condemned North Korean aggression, saying the U.S. will never accept a nuclear Pyongyang.
