An Alaskan lawmaker proposes legislation to allow drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

In a tweet Senator Lisa Murkowski said the bill will create jobs, keep energy affordable, and reduce the deficit.

The legislation would open up roughly one-and-a-half million acres of the refuge to oil and gas drilling

It would also allow federal officials to sell leases for drilling rights.

Analysts claim the move could increase federal revenues by more than one billion dollars over the next decade.

The bill only requires a simple majority to pass in the Senate.

A hearing is scheduled for next week.

  1. Let’s just kill the planet while we are at it. What year did the Jetsons say we’d have flying cars?

The Artic reserve is a joke. It was only made a “reserve” to kepp the US dependent on other countries and screw the citizens of this country.
GO for it. All of the natural resources in this country belong to the citizens not to a bunch of whacky communist aholes trying to screw us into bankruptcy.
I believe it is a SIN NOT to use what God has provided to us.

  3. The idea that oil wells/drilling/mineral excavation, and conservation of land and wildlife management are naturally argumentative is ridiculous. It’s just that the people on the conservation side are too stubborn in their thinking, and therefore unwilling to come together and make it work to the benefit of all.

Did you catch that, a billion dollars over the next decade?

We are in the age of four plus trillion dollar budgets annually. What difference will one billion even make over ten years?

Really? Naw, its only a billion. Not even worth making. Got it!

      • landy fincannon | November 9, 2017 at 11:51 am |

There is slightly less than 32 years of seconds in a billion.

A trillion on the other hand is equivalent to 32.000 years of seconds.

So? A billion here, a billion there…Pretty soon, we’re talking REAL money!
Foot note: Obama spent appx 14 Trillion in only 8 years of seconds. So, your point?

Correction, the GOP held the purse strings since 2010, give them their due.

The debt ceiling will always have to be raised because neither party cares about cutting spending.

Correction. If you blame a GOP pres for the debt, while in office. You likewise blame a Dem for it, while in office. Nice try, to have your cake and eat it too.

There is plenty enough blame to go around.

      • A mere billion? Well, to be honest, that’s more than I make in a year!

  5. About time!

  6. This anti gun, anti First Amendment, anti Christian, democrap siding POS, anti American, is actually proposing something that might benefit the PEOPLE? Oh wait, its about generating MONEY for the GOVERNMENT!!

Want to see gas prices STAY below 2 bucks PG? This gets done and it will. Not to mention home heating cost becoming reasonable again too

    • Before the hurricanes, gas prices in Missouri WERE under $2.00. Reopening those refineries will get prices down again. Oh wait. That doesn’t help the democraps move their agenda forward.

    • Frank LaSush | November 9, 2017 at 11:38 am |

Not to mention it will severely impact our energy producing enemies’ ability to finance terrorism. DRILL Baby DRILL!!!
